Executive
Director: Susan Amberson
Susan
has worked with non-profits in the Puget Sound
area for over twenty years, initially with
environmental organizations concerned with
preserving and protecting the Nisqually
Delta. Her efforts turned to community
health in the late 1990's after realizing that
Thurston County had few resources available
for its low-income residents and those without
health insurance. She joined Sea Mar
Community Health Center in 1999 as Special
Projects Director and negotiated the funding
and community support needed to bring the
community health center to
Olympia.
After
seeing that operation through to a new
location and staff of five providers, Susan
left Seas Mar and has been consulting
independently with non-profits since
2004. Though the emphasis of her
consulting remained in community health, she
missed the interaction with patients.
When the opportunity arose to join NFMC in
July 2008, the timing was right and Susan
joined a Executive Director. She lives
in Olympia with her husband, Steve Munger.

Medical
Director: Dr. Cris Johnson, MD
Dr. Johnson has been a supporter of
the NFMC even before the doors opened, and was
instrumental in the great participation of
Pioneer Family Practice doctors on our roster of
providers. Dr. Johnson’s role as our
Medical Director was celebrated by local
hospital administrators as well as by the NFMC
volunteers who have had the pleasure of working
with him. Dr. Johnson’s modest yet
confident manner establishes trust and rapport
with patients and co-workers, and his
servant’s heart will naturally provide the
leadership essential to the culture of our
clinic.
