 Administrative Staff

Executive Director:  Susan Amberson

Susan has worked with non-profits in the Puget Sound area for over twenty years, initially with environmental organizations concerned with preserving and protecting the Nisqually Delta.  Her efforts turned to community health in the late 1990's after realizing that Thurston County had few resources available for its low-income residents and those without health insurance.  She joined Sea Mar Community Health Center in 1999 as Special Projects Director and negotiated the funding and community support needed to bring the community health center to Olympia.

After seeing that operation through to a new location and staff of five providers, Susan left Seas Mar and has been consulting independently with non-profits since 2004.  Though the emphasis of her consulting remained in community health, she missed the interaction with patients.  When the opportunity arose to join NFMC in July 2008, the timing was right and Susan joined a Executive Director.  She lives in Olympia with her husband, Steve Munger.

Medical Director:  Dr. Cris Johnson, MD

Dr. Johnson has been a supporter of the NFMC even before the doors opened, and was instrumental in the great participation of Pioneer Family Practice doctors on our roster of providers.  Dr. Johnson’s role as our Medical Director was celebrated by local hospital administrators as well as by the NFMC volunteers who have had the pleasure of working with him.  Dr. Johnson’s modest yet confident manner establishes trust and rapport with patients and co-workers, and his servant’s heart will naturally provide the leadership essential to the culture of our clinic.

Office Manager:  Sheila Graham

Sheila brings an extensive and diverse set of skills and experience to her position as Office Manager.

Sheila's career path has included working as an Accountant for a major recruiting firm, as a Sales Manager for a real estate company, and as an Owner/Manager of a retail floral business.  She came to the clinic, after successfully completing the 2005 campaign, from her position as Account Executive for United Way of Thurston County

Previously, Sheila has been a volunteer for organizations such as the Crisis Clinic and the Emergency Housing Network.  She has served on several boards, including those of a local Chamber of Commerce and Retrouvaille of Arizona.

A native of Oregon, Sheila graduated from Merritt Davis College in Salem with a major in Accounting.  She lives in rural Thurston County with her husband, Tom, and their two cranky old cats.  In her spare time, she especially enjoys traveling, fishing, and Geocaching.

Case Manager:  Theda Spracklin

Theda earned her BA degree in English, in 1976, from James Madison University in Harrisonberg VA.  She has since worked as a legal editor and proofreader, (in the early eighties) and later as a caseworker in several social service venues.  She has worked as the State Liaison, resource development coordinator and caseworker at the Clatsop County Woman's Resource Center in Astoria, Oregon for several years, providing case management, advocacy and training to families involved in domestic violence, and to families struggling with poverty and depression, needing resources and community help.

Theda also worked as the Clatsop Care Center, a 78 bed non-profit facility for the elderly and infirm, in the capacity of Ward Clerk, Central Supply, and Social Worker.  More specifically, she assisted medical staff in the nurse's station, worked with families of residents, who were often distraught at leaving their parents in a home, as well as maintained all resident's charts to state standards.  She also ordered, and dispersed all medical supplies for the facility.

On a more personal note, Theda has a great love of standard jazz and bluegrass music.  She volunteer DJ'd at KMUN radio station in Astoria, Oregon, spinning out evening jazz shows for listeners for seven years.  She has also performed many a vocal gig in her day, for example, she traveled to Kobe, Japan in the eighties with her band named "Dede" and opened up a swingin American style jazz club there for six months.  She even sang the National Anthem at a Mariner's game!  She is hoping, once she gets some time, to fins a musical outlet for herself here in the Olympia are very soon.
